History of Blindness in Iowa Presentations

Join us for an overview of the Iowa Blind History project. Hear about the process of collecting oral histories, related historical documents and images available to the public, and learn more about the lives of blind Iowans and the people and events that impacted them.

Exhibit Schedule

Since January 2012, an exhibit on the History of Blindness in Iowa has been traveling to public libraries across Iowa. Each library hosts the exhibit for one month and a presentation on the topic is also given.

The exhibit consists of display panels addressing these themes: Education, Employment, Community and Domestic Life, Advocacy, and Technology. Exhibit information is available in Braille and audio formats. Excerpts from selected oral histories is also available on audio players.
